Hey guys,

1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us[a] to God,…
Acts 9:16 For I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name’s sake.”
Romans 8:17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
Philippians 3:10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death,…
ENGAGE is a ministry of Grace House in which we all are challenged through "hands and heart" on ministry opportunities. Each week every person who chooses is given the opportunity to engage suffering at some level.
The assignments range from prayer missions to face to face ministry. We believe that we discover a much needed area of God's heart when we enter into the "sufferings" of others. This is what Jesus did for us all. He came and suffered as the "just" for the "unjust" to bring us to God. Therefore, we also endeavor to reach redemptively to others by engaging them in their sufferings.
Through these assignments our people are exposed to will touch local hurt and global hurt. As God hears the cries of those in distress, so should we. In the right sidebar of this page, you will see a listing of what we call "Major Causes." These are cries of people around the world that often fall upon deafened ears. We desire to become more educated about these concerns, to pray more diligently about them, and to enter into them as the Lord leads in order to bring people to Him.
The Bible also clearly teaches us that God's glory follows suffering with a redemptive purpose in view. There are present sufferings and there is coming glory.
You are encouraged to pray and ask God to reveal His heart, plans and purposes concerning helping those who suffer. There are so many, but all of us engaging one heart at a time will make a difference in someone's life.
Recently in one of our services after we had been challenged from God's Word to enter into the sufferings of others in order to bring them to God, a medical doctor came to the front and asked if he could speak. He then shared a story he had heard about a child and the starfish. It really spoke to our hearts to challenge us that in the face of massive and overwhelming issues related to suffering in our world, that we could make a difference. The story he shared follows:
One day an old man was walking along the beach. It was low tide, and the sand was littered with thousands of stranded starfish that the water had carried in and then left behind. The man began walking very carefully so as not to step on any of the beautiful creatures. Since the animals still seemed to be alive, he considered picking some of them up and putting them back in the water, where they could resume their lives.
The man knew the starfish would die if left on the beach's dry sand but he reasoned that he could not possibly help them all, so he chose to do nothing and continued walking.
Soon afterward, the man came upon a small child on the beach who was frantically throwing one starfish after another back into the sea. The old man stopped and asked the child, "What are you doing?"
"I'm saving the starfish," the child replied.
"Why waste your time?… There are so many you can't save them all so what does is matter?" argued the man.
Without hesitation, the child picked up another starfish and tossed the starfish back into the water… "It matters to this one," the child explained.
Let's all engage one person who has been "washed ashore" and is struggling to survive. This is the heart of God for people and should be our heart. We cannot be content any longer thinking we cannot make a difference. It is not our role to curse the darkness but to light a candle. Let's ENGAGE!
