In today's complex political landscape, Christians face important decisions about how to engage with elections and voting while staying true to biblical principles. Understanding God's perspective on key issues can help guide these choices.

The Foundation: God's Authority Over Nations

The Bible teaches that God brings the counsel of nations to nothing and His plans stand forever (Psalm 33:10-12). As believers, we should seek to honor God through our civic engagement and vote in ways that align with biblical values.

Three Key Issues to Consider When Voting

1. The Sanctity of Life

Since 1973, over 63 million abortions have occurred in the United States. Scripture clearly teaches that God forms life in the womb (Psalm 139) and children are a heritage from the Lord. When voting, Christians should consider candidates' positions on protecting unborn life.

2. Border Security and Human Trafficking

God established boundaries for nations (Acts 17). Current border policies have enabled increased human trafficking, particularly of children. Over 330,000 children have gone missing at the southern border in recent years. Voters should consider how candidates will address border security and protect vulnerable populations.

3. Support for Israel

Genesis 12:1 contains God's promise to bless those who bless Israel. When evaluating candidates, consider their track record and stated positions on supporting Israel. This includes recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital and providing military support when needed.

Looking Beyond Personalities to Policies

While candidates' personalities and behavior matter, voters should focus primarily on policies and platforms that will impact generations to come. Consider:

  • What values do their policies reflect?
  • How do their actions align with biblical principles?
  • What is their track record on key moral issues?

Life Application

As you prepare to vote, prayerfully consider:

  • Have I studied candidates' positions on key biblical issues like protecting life, supporting Israel, and maintaining just borders?
  • Am I voting based on God's values rather than personality preferences?
  • How can I be both courageous in standing for truth while showing Christ's love to those who disagree?

Take Action:

  • Research candidates' positions and voting records
  • Pray for wisdom in voting decisions
  • Share biblical perspectives with others respectfully
  • Vote according to biblical values rather than party loyalty
  • Continue to pray for elected officials regardless of outcome

Remember: While elections matter greatly, our ultimate hope rests in Christ as King of Kings, not earthly leaders. Let your vote reflect His values while maintaining love for all people.
